Style MY Story: Airport Style

Blazer: Vintage/Thrifted, V-Neck: Walmart, Leggings: Target, Creme Ring: Flirt Fashions, Bag: ? Booties: Payless

I wore this outfit last night for a little reunion with all of my old high school friends. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures from our fun dinner, so I decided to recycle my outfit for today.
We picked up our family this morning from the airport.
Love the airport!
I'm excited to have family here, and very excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow... can't wait to stuff my face with delicious, home cooked food!

Thrifty

Thrifty Shopper

Photobucket

Thrift stores have been my saving grace this year in college. I have managed to get a little bit of a shopping fix every now and then, even with my low budget, thanks to thrift stores. I went thrifting yesterday and picked up quite a few things. Above are just a few of my favorite finds from yesterday's thrifting adventure.
I cannot wait to try out some of the pieces that I picked up yesterday!

On an unrelated side note: I went to pack my car up this morning so that I could leave right after I get out of class at 11. Stupidly, I locked my keys in the trunk. My car also happens to be locked. Oh, and my spare key is back in Georgia.
Go figure.
I drive a Mercedes, and unfortunately, you can't just call AAA and have them break in through the window with a Mercedes. Something to do with the anti-theft system makes it virtually impossible. I have to wait until my mom can get a hold of the Mercedes dealer and figure out what needs to be done. So much for being home by a decent hour tonight...
I've managed to keep my cool even though it's unbearably frustrating. But I keep telling myself that it is what it is, and getting upset won't get my keys out any quicker.
Am I home yet?
Ugh.

My Family In A Nutshell

Ohhhh yessss!
It's that time of year again- time to bust out The Family Stone dvd and laugh and cry a little.
It is a personal favorite of my family's, and we watch it every year around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
It is essentially my family in a nutshell.
We are all perfectly represented and portrayed by one of the characters in the film.
And if you're wondering which person in the movie would be me, it would be Rachel McAdam's character, Amy.
Yes, that's right, I'm the bratty little sister...

I'm a sucker for what I refer to as "life" movies. Obviously the movie has to have a plot, but my favorite kind of movies are the ones where their plot centers around something happening in everyday life. I like to watch a movie and feel like it could really happen, or better yet, be able to relate 100% because it has happened!
The Family Stone is a classic and personal favorite "life" movie.
It's also a great holiday movie.
If you haven't seen it, I would encourage you to rent it and check it out for yourself.
I have a feeling you will be able to find at least one relatable element to the movie, but probably more.

What are some of your favorite holiday or "life" movies?

Casual Friday

T-Shirt: H&M, Vest: Thrited, Jeans: Lucky Brand, Bracelets: Vintage, Creme Ring: Flirt Fashions, Shades: Kenneth Cole, Heels: BCBG, Nail Polish: OPI Aragon

I will always love jeans and a t-shirt. It's just so casual and timeless. You can never go wrong with a good pair of jeans and a comfy tee.
How about those bracelets? I'm trying to remember which country they're from, but I'm drawing a blank. Austria? Germany? Sweden? I don't know. But they're hand painted bracelets from somewhere in that vague direction. They had belonged to my Great Aunt, and after she passed away, my grandma let me go through and pick out which pieces I wanted from Aunt's jewelry collection. These are by far some of my favorite accessories that I own! Each bracelet is a little work of art. Also, I love the clanking noise they make when you move your arm. It's the little things in an outfit which make it special.

I'm unbelievably anxious to head home!
I was tempted to just pack up and head out today. Of course I couldn't because I have class Monday and Tuesday, but I was wishing I could have.
I hope y'all are having a fabulous Friday!!!
It's the weekend.
Now there's something to be happy about.

Vera Wang Trunk Show

I had the opportunity to tag along with a friend tonight to a trunk show for Vera Wang's most recent collection. I had already seen all the dresses in the lookbook and in magazines, but to see them in person was really awesome. They were all so gorgeous! The best part was that there were two models who periodically changed into the different dresses throughout the two hours. It helped you better visualize the dresses when you saw them on an actual person.

The green dress was definitely my favorite, from an artistic standpoint anyway. I'm not so sure it is very practical, but it is definitely lovely!

I'm in a state of wedding fever lately. I cannot believe I haven't said anything about this until today, but exactly one week ago my older brother got engaged!!! I don't think I could be any more excited about this wedding. You would think I'm the one getting married with how big of a deal I'm making over it. I absolutely love his fiance, and I am so excited to call her my sister-in-law! Glad my brother knows how to pick 'em!
Anyway, this trunk show coincided perfectly with the wedding daze I seem to be in as of late.

Any other brides out there looking for a great dress?
Give them a call!

Hope you all had a great night!

Still Mad For Plaid

And the obsession lives on...

Plaid Button-Up: Thrifted
Jeans: Lucky Brand
Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs
Watch: Walmart
Large Creme Ring: Flirt Fashions
Heels: Payless

Plaid doesn't really fit in as well around here. For some reason, plaid seems much more fitting for Georgia or North Carolina, but not South Carolina. Or maybe it's just because I'm coastal and not inland. Who knows, but I like to wear it anyway. It makes me feel like I should be out in the country or something, perhaps living in my dream farmhouse like that one I posted the other day. And accompanied by the baggy boyfriend style jeans, which provide the comfy element, it's an easy go to look.
I guess I'll have to be coastal country.
Although, I will say this particular plaid shirt looks more refined.
So I guess that makes me a refined coastal country dressed girl today.
Alright, sounds good.

Only two days of school next week and then home for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Cannot wait!
We will actually have some family staying with us over the holiday for a change, so that will be nice.
My mom mentioned last night that we maybe, possibly, potentially, might be able to go see the Rockettes perform.
I'm definitely hoping that we get to. That would be such a treat! It's pretty much my all time favorite show. Those women and their high kicks seriously astound me!
Anyway, I'm anxious for the holiday and to see my family.

What Thanksgiving festivities are y'all planning?

Long Overdue

Currently Coveting: Hunter Rain Boots

I live in the land of flooding. Today has reminded me of why I desperately need a pair of rain boots. It is very overcast, and while it hasn't actually flooded today or even rained that much, the mucky streets make me wish that I had the pair of rain boots I've been wanting and knowing I would need since before I moved here.

I think it is long overdue and about time to make the purchase.
The hardest part will be deciding which color...

Purple dress: Vintage
Dress: American Eagle
Necklace: F21
Booties: Payless

This purple dress had belonged to my grandma. It is so long and so old lady-ish. I thought it would be fun to try and make it work, and I decided to do so by wearing it as a sort of overcoat rather than a dress. I think my outfit is a little creepy, which was definitely enhanced by the evening time pictures. There's just something about the ensemble that I think is a little spooky.
Don't you?

Dream House = Farmhouse

Dream House = Farmhouse

I have such an immense love for farmhouses and homes decorated in farmhouse type fashion and decor. They have that ability to be filled with a bunch of random, old but meaningful, mix-matched pieces, yet still look so well put together and homey. Mostly though, I just love what they represent. To me, farmhouses represent a time when people were content with the simple things and enjoyed much simpler lifestyles and ways of living. There is something to be commended about that.

I also identify with farmhouses because two of my favorite people lived in one. My grandma was a a brilliant, vivacious city slicker who happily left what she knew to move to the countryside with my grandpa so he could fulfill his dream of owning a cattle farm. I love that my grandma, the city girl, went country. The best part about it is that she adapted and did it so convincingly well! My mom also grew up on this farm. She was a farm girl in upstate New York. She fed chickens, pitched hay, played with barn cats, and ran through pastures. I guess farmhouses appeal to me because it's like getting a glimpse into that mindset and time of nothing but family & friends, nature, a cozy house, and lots of hard work, which is just how mom grew up and grandma lived.
Like I said, I just really like what farmhouses represent.

Who knows, maybe I'll own one someday...

See the rest of this house and other beautiful farmhouses at Country Living!
(It's a personal favorite home decorating magazine of mine. A must read!!!)
